About Fatal Merlins World

Welcome to Fatal_Merlin174's Minecraft server!

This server has been created mostly to serve as a permanent place for friends to enjoy a casual experience close to the original vanilla settings, with some quality of life improvements such as tree felling and automatic explosion/fire restoration. Eventually I plan on adding a 3D map should our players decide to help pay for a premium server host.

Hard Mode has been selected for a variety of reasons. A server will likely develop massive farms to take care of increased hunger needs. Zombies can break into houses which will push players to use stronger doors. Hard mode will also greatly slow the progress of players, making each accomplishment that much more satisfying. Servers often see accelerated progress as those who can grind the game for longer periods of time will have an enormous impact on the world. Hard mode will hopefully slow them somewhat so that other players may enjoy the struggle that is vanilla Minecraft before others develop monster farms and perfected merchants, a dragonless End, etc.

To ensure an enjoyable experience for all, this server will be focused on PvE (with possible future PvP zones/worlds) and anti-griefing through the ownership of plots of land. Any unclaimed area can be yours to build on without fear of others stealing your items or destroying your hard work. As the server grows I will likely develop dirt roads which can not be claimed to prevent people from blocking important areas whilst simultaneously allowing players increased speed and ease of travel across long distances. Eventually I plan on creating a portal highway to use the Nether to shorten even longer trips across the overworld. Strongholds holding End Portals will be refurbished and made into permanent server features, along with certain villages, mansions, etc.

I used to run a server before bedrock was created and this server is an homage to my original one. One feature I may include later on is permanent markets. These will not use villagers but will have signs you can interact with to spend or earn emeralds. The prices will be inflated in these permanent markets to encourage players to find and utilize villagers, but also allow players who do not wish to do so the option to trade regardless.

One of the features I was working on before I had to shut down my original server was PvP copy of the overworld. Essentially the same seed but with PvP turned on. I would like to explore this option again at some point, and possibly an arena in the PvE world for players to duel with stands for spectators. The PvP copy world is inspired by an MMO I used to play with the same concept. In this MMO the PvP world almost seemed like a purgatory or hellish version of the normal world, and I wanted to imitate that in Minecraft by having the permanent areas look like a darker, dead copy. Replacing Stone Bricks with Deepslate Bricks, grass with mycelium, trees with giant mushrooms, sand with gravel, etc.

With the introduction of Bedrock I started a realm for my family, but being limited to 10 players and unable to have people join from a link online severely limited my interest in developing the world. Luckily I was told about a way to create a server in Java and have Bedrock players join. This has reignited my excitement to create a world for all to enjoy, and I can't wait to see what everyone creates!
